Hartbeespoort beauty Tamaryn Taylor (16) was crowned as the winner in the Top Model runway category and will be packing her bags for the Top Model UK pageant and London Fashion Week.
“I’m super excited about the journey that awaits me,” a beaming Tamaryn told Kormorant this week. “I don’t know what to expect just yet but I do know that I am going to try my very best and put my skills to the test. My goal is to make it in the modelling industry as an international supermodel. I want to represent South Africa on the runway… just as Candice Swanepoel has done. While I am there I will apply to different modelling agencies in London and hope for the best!”
The Grade 11 student lives with her family on a game farm in the Skeerpoort area. She has been modelling for the past four years. “I was lucky to be scouted on Instagram by one of the previous competition winners. I decided that entering the competition would be a tremendous opportunity for me to further my modelling career.”
Her modelling journey started when she was young. “My sister was passionate about singing and was told by her singing coach that joining a modelling school could help with stage presence and confidence to improve her skill set. I decided to join my sister as I have loved fashion and dressing up since I was small. We thought it would be a fun opportunity for both of us.”
Tamaryn did not expect to win. “Winning the runway category was a dream come true. I feel incredibly proud of myself because I know I gave my all and tried my best. It all still feels unbelievable to me and reality hasn’t completely set in. I am extremely excited about competing in London for Top Model UK. I cannot wait to meet new people and experience different cultures. It is something I am really looking forward to,” she says.
